Accepting Guest Posts may harm your Blog.
Now a days, everyone is preparing guest posts for other blogs to increase their visibility in the blogosphere. I agree with the point that accepting guest posts on your blog is a great way to connect with other bloggers. Guest Blogging, no doubt has a lot of advantages. But it has some disadvantages which if ignored may harm your blog to a large extent. Thanks to Technology Inspired who gave me idea about this topic.
Let us discuss about the disadvantages in detail.
* If you accept and publish a guest post on your blog, the guest poster will get a backlink from your blog. As you provide a link back to their site, it means you trust that site. Most of the search engines penalize blogs who provide a link back to spammy websites or paid articles created only for sales.
* Not all guest posts may relate to your niche. This will irritate the readers of your blog. For example, your blog provides tips only about “Traffic Generation“. But you approved a guest post about “How to make money from website“, this move may sometimes frustrate readers of your blog.
* Guest posts of very short length or low quality may decrease readers of your blog.
* Always approving posts from other authors may annoy your readers because they visit your blog because they have trust on your words and wish to read more from you, not from a stranger who they hardly know.
* Some guest authors reproduce content from other websites. If you fail to discover the content and publish them on your blog, there might be a chance that a reader who knows the original source of the post may think negatively about your blog.
* Some guest authors often submit useless content which no way relates to your blog, resulting in wastage of your valuable time in soritng them out.
Conclusion:

No, you didn’t miss any factors regarding the disadvantages about Guest blog. Guest blogging does bring wonders to your site but like you mentioned, you have to consider this factors as this may hurt your blog. That’s why i suggest to add a guest blogging policy to your site and before approving a guest post, you have to do your research to the blog that’s linking to you. Great tips and more power Naser!
